Hindu festival Vasant Panchami is here as we officially bid farewell to the tender winter season of the time. The auspicious festival, which falls in the Hindu month of Magh marks the arrival of spring filled with positive vibes. Vasant Panchami is also significant spiritually as we observe it as the birthday of Saraswati, the Hindu Goddess of music, knowledge, wisdom, learning and art. Saraswati Puja’s are being organized in different parts during Vasant Panchami.
Just like many other Hindu festivals that differ in its way of celebration, Vasant Panchami also differs in the way of commemoration across various states. In Punjab, it is renowned as the festival of kites while Gurudwaras observes it as Sikh festival. In Bihar it is widely quoted as the harvest festival and in Bengal it is the occasion of Saraswati Puja. Despite of primarily regarded as a North Indian Festival, many diverse communities across our country celebrates this festival with utmost prosperity.
Just like the Hindu festivals known for its delicious foods, Vasant Panchami is also the occasion for some sweets and flavors to exercise your tongue. Some of the mouth watering recipes like malpua, kheer, sweet rice, boondi laddoo, kesari sheera and rajbhog will mark the delicious stature for Vasant Panchami. Some of them like the blonde loads are considered ideal as offerings as it comprises of yellow color.
Even though spring has officially arrived by festival Vasant Panchami, the climate will be still remaining chill during nights. However, the midday heat can be expected to settle amidst the twenties. As this is the case of North India, the peninsular India will remain the hottest destination in the country, for them the monsoon wait begins.
