Uttar Pradesh to go online for paying stamp duty
In order to lubricate the process of property registration, Uttar Pradesh government is all set to allow online payment of stamp duties for property transactions in the state. A notification has been issued by the state allowing people to directly pay the stamp duty into the state treasury on August 11, 2016. People can use net banking and debit cards to remit the registration and stamp fees.
The security test of the software is progressing and it can be expected to be running by next week. People are likely to obtain the system of e-payments by next week, an official of Stamp and Registration department said. At first, the users will have to visit the district registration department and obtain the slip for the payment. People can then log on to https://igrsup.gov.in/and pay the money.
According to the notification released, the online payment system also allows people to return their payment if they wish, for which user needs to forward an application to concerned sub-registrar. The sub registrar will forward the application after verification to asst commissioner (stamp) of the district. The new system will avoid the hustles of queuing up to pay the registration fees.
